A New Chapter in Colour — I’m Now a Qualified Colour Consultant!

After a year of study, countless late nights, practical tasks, colour boards, and more theory than I ever imagined existed,

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I am now officially a qualified Colour Consultant — achieving a Higher Merit in Colour Therapeutics for Interior Design (Advanced Level). It still feels surreal to say it!

This was not a quick or easy course. It was a full, in-depth, year-long programme that I began at the end of last year.

It covered colour psychology, therapeutic colour use, the emotional impact of shades, how light affects colour behaviour, and how colour influences comfort, mood, balance, energy, and overall wellbeing in a home.

One thing that really stood out during my studies is just how rare my combination of skills actually is. Most Colour Consultants have never physically picked up a paintbrush, and most painters and decorators are not trained colour consultants.

So having both worlds together — the theory AND the hands-on experience — feels incredibly special.

With over 30 years of experience on the tools, I understand how colour behaves in the real world — how pigment settles, how finishes transform, and how light plays across different surfaces. Now I also have the professional colour-therapy knowledge behind it.

It means I understand colour in a way that blends emotion, psychology, and the practical truth of how a shade behaves on real walls with real light in a real home. Not just what looks pretty on a mood board, but what works beautifully in day-to-day life.

I’m quietly proud of this achievement. It has added a whole new depth to my work and given me even more passion for what I do.

A little reflection…

This qualification has reminded me that growth isn’t loud. It happens quietly — in the evenings spent studying, in the moments of doubt, in the pages of notes, and in the feeling of pride when you finally realise you’ve done it.

I’m grateful, excited, and looking forward to seeing how this new chapter shapes the future of Kolors Decorating. This is a new chapter in colour — I’m now a qualified colour consultant!
